What exactly is gold-extraction activated carbon?
Gold extraction activated carbon is a high-performance activated carbon specifically tailored for the cyanide gold extraction process.
Typically manufactured from raw materials such as coconut shells or high-quality coal, it features a highly developed microporous structure and exceptional adsorption selectivity.
This enables it to rapidly adsorb and concentrate dissolved gold ions from mineral slurries, thereby facilitating the efficient recovery of gold from low-grade ores.
Gold-extraction activated carbon is not ordinary activated carbon.
Its core advantages are:
A highly developed pore structure and extremely strong adsorption capacity
High strength and wear resistance, it does not easily pulverize
Excellent selectivity for gold ions
Capable of repeated regeneration and long-term cyclic use
How does it "suck" the gold out?
Industrially, the CIP (Carbon-in-Pulp) or CIL (Carbon-in-Leach) processes are widely adopted:
The ore is ground and a cyanide solution is added, allowing the gold to dissolve into gold-cyanide complex ions.
Activated carbon—specifically designed for gold extraction—is introduced into the ore slurry to strongly adsorb the gold-bearing ions.
The gold-loaded carbon is then recovered and subjected to desorption, electrolysis, and smelting to yield the final gold product.
High-quality "Golden Charcoal" must meet these key criteria.
Compared to ordinary activated carbon, it places greater emphasis on a high iodine value, high strength, and wear resistance.
It is resistant to pulverization and can be repeatedly desorbed and regenerated, thereby significantly reducing gold extraction costs.
